I finished Bakemonogatari yesterday. I enjoyed it a lot, especially the characters felt very colorful and living.

I assume he meant monogatari series second season anime.
No, I meant as in the "first" season of the anime.

Oh. Well, you've lot to go. The best is yet to come. Personally I think, bakemonogatari was good, Nisemonokatari was still good but weaker, monogatari second is a freaking masterpiece.

Well, then I have something to look forward to!
So I started watching Higurashi and what.
Can someone explain to me without spoilers (if that's possible) why episode 5 and 6 (which is where I've stopped) are just a retelling of the first four episodes?
There are alternate timelines, each with different scenarios and character focus
I've started watching Haibane Renmei, by the same director who did Serial Experiments Lain. It is very good so far and a lot less cryptic than SEL, but I have a feeling that it will have a glorious mindfuck in the end.
I also started watching Nisemonogatari and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei S2, I don't really have anything to say about it since they are basically just more of the same (not that it's directly a bad thing).
