Apparently you are supposed to use Mouse 3/scroll wheel to rotate? For some reason with my mouse this wont work, is there any other way to rotate?

To rotate, hold down ALT + left click. If you're talking about rotating an object, select the object, then press the W key, or press the Rotate button (red circle looking button) in the top right corner
