The room in the chancel with what appears to be a sacrificial altar is otherwise useless in the game, serving no purpose other than to be eye candy.

Were any rituals specifically performed at this site? Obviously there is blood on the stone table, but this room is never mentioned in any notes as far as I recall.

Parties room. If you want grunts you need a party room.
Now, seriously, isn't that room the one where Alexander killed persons to extract.. something I don't remember? I think so.

I would say it's for the sacrifices that Alexander and Daniel performed to lead the Shadow astray since it's not the only stone table in the vicinity.
