The small lantern is nice and it seems really functional in the demonstration vids. 
But I hope we'll get other possible (maybe improvised) sources of light as well. A simple small torch would do wonders in more tight spaces, where the lantern would be too clunky for movement (e.g. affecting your ability to run). Also, a nice substitute for the lighter from Penumbra would be a tinderbox (flint and steel) for lighting small fires. I always liked how you could light most of the old oil lamps in the abandoned mines of Overture...
