Oh he also mentioned about not forgetting you had to stop "him", I guess that being Alexander.

Why does the gooey stuff hurt me? If this is not explained in a believable way later in the game, I will be very disappointed. Please don't say, it's just my mind playing tricks on me.
Wherefore can I not push the big crates? Surely you have not removed the body push function of Penumbra, where heavy things could only be pushed with the weight of your body?
These guys sure love their tinderboxes, don't they? It seems to be the most commonplace item in the castle:
"Stick one in the cupboard?"
"Why not?"
"How about one in your footlocker?"
"Sure"
"Behind the fake bookcase in the hidden passageway?"
"Go right ahead"
Sorry, but you do know this is a video game right? Everything you're complaining about are game mechanics without which the game would just be a guided haunted house tour.
I don't recall ever mentioning a game mechanic, that I wanted to be removed....
Where exactly did you get that from?

Actually I bought the 3 games a long time ago on Steam, but I just haven't got into them yet. I will probably be playing Amnesia before Penumbra actually.

That's not really a bad thing, since the games have nothing to do with eachother.
There was a lever to pull?
