Let's help the Frictional devs a bit by making and sharing avatars for our favorite game here! It's a great way to create interest for the game on other forums. Wink

I'll start with this animated avvie of a grunt going funny:

(120x120)
Spoiler below!

Feel free to use it here and any other forums that allow animated gifs. To make things easy, the avvie comes in two more common sizes; just pick the one right for your forum (for example, this one accepts 80x80 max).

(80x80)

(100x100)

This is just the beginning; feel free to post ideas, suggestions and of course your own avatar creations! ^_^
Very nice! I'd contribute some myself if I knew how to make them Tongue
Guess I might take this chance to ask how on earth to make animated GIFs with the new Photoshop since there is no ImageReady(?) anymore it seems.

Thanks! :-) Maybe you could make some static avatars then; a clever or funny pic that gets people's attention and ask 'hey, what's that on your avatar?' Wink

Nope, but we got Fireworks instead! Smile That's what I used for this one, and it's so much more intuitive than Photoshop! While PS also has some options for animated GIFs, it's more limited: create and export only, can't import or edit... go figure. Anyway, here are the steps to get started in PS:
  1. Open Window >> Animation and make sure the new window is set to Frames (PS Extended does 'Timeline' by default, gotta switch that).
  2. Use the buttons in the Animation window to make/copy frames, tween etc. The PS animation manual might be helpful here.
  3. When you're done, go to File >> Save for Web & Devices, select GIF, set the animation properties on the bottom of the dialog and hit Save.
If you want to import animated GIFs back into Photoshop, you have to use another app to help with that, since PS will ignore all but the first frame. Check out the tutorial I wrote a while ago about using Fireworks to prepare an animated GIF for PS import.

Hope this helps, wanna see what you can do! :-)

Thanks! I recommend Fireworks, it's a really capable app when it comes to animation for the web (see above). But you could also do static avatars; if done well, they could be just as noticeable! ;-)
Haha really great work Wink.
yea, funny ^^
hehe , very cool ...
Thanks guys! Smile

Made another one, this time a Brute that must've been a rapper before!

(By the way, the animations are from the actual models; if you check them out in the model editor, you can see some funny sequences that are best described as easter eggs, not seen in the actual game.)
Schaweeet dude. Keep it up
