Traggeys Custom models, Monster replacement. HELP NEEDED - Traggey - 02-10-2012

So hey there folks, new around these forums! Been apart of many other modding communities and have quite alot of experience. I'm a 2D/3D artist, level designer, voice actor and youtube lets player!

I've recently gotten to making a custom story for amnesia with the scripting aid of The3Flames. As a modeler I've already created quite a few assets for this story and there is more to come. Upon release of my story I will be posting all the new models used on these forums for you all to enjoy!

Now to a problem I need help with though. I'm making a monster replacement. I've gotten it working nicely in the engine. [Image: girlwip.jpg]
However it is not rigged, AKA there are no animations. And I can't rig it to the default monster bones as it will look awefull. So I need help from those of you who've been around modding this game longer! How would I go about creating a working rig and animations for Amnesia? I use 3D's max to do all my 3D job.

I'm in no way an "experienced" modeler, but I know my way around importing things to amnesia. I use Maya for modeling too, so I'm unsure wheter 3D's Max will work without trouble :>

Anyway:
1. From what I've gathered 3D's Max uses Z as "up", While Amnesia and Maya uses Y as "up". This is the reason why it might be trouble.
2. The rig should be constructed solely of joints, amnesia cannot handle constraints or IK handles.
3. The maximum number of vertices bound to a bone is 4. Any higher number will cause a crash.

As this is something I know little about I would suggest you start by creating a simple "trial-skeleton" and animation to it. In that way you may observe if it exports correctly.

This model was actually almost finished, once the Mongrel is finished I'll see to it to finish this.

How far along are you in finishing this monster? Looks great to have in a story. Awesome work on making it!

Wow, uh long time no see Mr.Thread!

Yeah the model for this is totally finished, I will however not be rigging or animating it anytime soon, too busy with school.

We need more animators around here.
