Where is my Custom Stories folder? - Erikkka - 03-21-2012
So I've been trying to download custom stories onto my Amnesia and after looking at a tutorial, I attempted to look for my custom stories folder to extract the zipped folder (where the custom story is); however, I cannot find it anywhere on my computer. First, I checked in the folder "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" folder and all that's there is:

layout.bin

Then, I checked in the folder "Amnesia", but I only found another folder named "Main". Inside that folder there's:
Erikkka (a folder)
first_start_flag
hpl
hpl_update
installkey
launcher
main_settings.cfg
And inside my "Erikkka" folder is basically nothing really important. Just stuff about the game and all. I searched my computer for the folder, but there's nothing there. Where else can I find my folder? There's nothing on my computer that's like "Redist" or something like that.

If your game is retail then it's probably in
C:\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\redist\custom_stories
If it's from Steam, then:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\amnesia the dark descent\custom_stories

I checked my Programmed Files folder and it's not there. Not even the folder "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" is in there. I bought the game through this website.

If you installed the game normally, without any changes, then there should be a folder named Amnesia The Dark Descent, which is located under Program Files.
In case you are using 64 bit Windows, then it should be under C:\Program Files (x86)
I'm not sure if you are looking right place, but if you can't find it again, search for Amnesia.exe and you'll definitely find it.

Right now, I literally have no idea where my files for the game are suppose to be. It works and all, but my Custom stories file is either missing or it didn't download, if that's a possibility?
And I checked and it's not there at all.
I screenshot what appears when I searched "Amnesia.exe" and this is all that came up:

Seems like you are using Windows 7. If you have a shortcut of the game, you can right click on it and click on "Open file location"

Ohmygod, I finally found it! Thank you so much!!
EDIT: So I've encountered another problem.... the mods won't download into my custom stories folder.

most probably you need administrator privileges

But it's not just like one custom story I try downloading. It happens every time I try downloading any mod I find on the Showcase forum..
