You give yourself too much credit, dude. People are known to agree to murder not only when their life is threatened, but even when simply offered a lot of money for it.

I was joking - besides, it's a bit amusing to think people would identify with one murderer over another, isn't it? To be frank every Amnesia protagonist is a vile bastard. I just prefer Mandus because he doesn't faint and treat the darkness as the enemy when in actuality it is his friend. :p

I'm starting to notice a pattern here. People who like Daniel for being a wimp are mostly girls, whereas guys dislike him for that exact same reason. It's kinda funny.

RE: Daniel vs Mandus - Froge - 10-21-2013

I like Daniel-kun for being a wimp and I'm a guy.

He'd be more likable if I actually felt as scared as he was!

Then again, I can imagine Mandus taking his great-uncle's role in The Dark Descent. He's much more of a super-villain than Daniel is. :p

It gets tiring to see the same archetype on the strong, crazy, hyper masculine protagonist we usually get. They're boring. Daniel is someone who actually has human weaknesses and breaks that type. He's not the status-quo hero shooting up 'da bad guyz'. That's why he's awesome.

Neither are any of the other characters in Frictional's games - they're all bound by their inability to fight back. (Barring Phillip, who isn't much of a fighter.) The annoying thing about Daniel's fear is that, rather than make me empathize with him better, I'm irritated by him because he inexplicably treats the darkness as dangerous when the gameplay mechanics actually make it SAFE to be in the dark. This disconnect doesn't appear when I play as Justine/Mandus/Phil.

True. It's another reason I like FG's games. The fear of the dark made an interesting dimension to the story for me, however frustrating. It made me think about how I went about hiding. It wasn't enough just to hide and stay put, it pushed you to movement.
