RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Macgyverthehero - 12-15-2013 I'm sure Mikko will not fail. He knows exactly what will scare us as long as he knows what he is making music for, and what parts of his particular music fits where to bring that heart stopping moment. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Gunslingerjh - 12-16-2013 The thing is, amnesia didn't have much memorable themes, but more ambient songs. I hope he will return to the more melodic song types like in penumbra RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - MyRedNeptune - 12-16-2013 (12-16-2013, 09:27 AM)Gunslingerjh Wrote: The thing is, amnesia didn't have much memorable themes, but more ambient songs. Daniel's theme is a recurring motif throughout the game, and there are many other notable moments as well, like the grunt and kaernk themes. Aside from the main theme of Penumbra, I can still recall many ambient tracks associated with distinctive scenes - the chase music, the dream sequence, and the first meeting with Swanson stand out in particular. That being said, I'm still curious as to whether SOMA's soundtrack will feature any industrial or techno elements. Mainly because I'm thinking of the '90s game System Shock 2. :p A track from SS2 RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Gunslingerjh - 12-16-2013 (12-16-2013, 01:16 PM)MyRedNeptune Wrote: Yes it did. No, i get where you are coming from, Amnesia did also have some truly beautiful themes, but i thought Penumbra tied them all together better than Amnesia. But that's just my opinion RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - GrAVit - 12-16-2013 Yeah SS2 is such a great game. I really love the music in it! However, I don't know if they'll be bringing any similar mechanics from it. I just want a mindfuck, deep-story campaign with a shitload more of gameplay elements than AAMFP, as well as custom stories. And it would seem like that's where we're heading. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - MyRedNeptune - 12-17-2013 To the above comments: I'm referring to specific qualities of the tracks. Mixing, orchestration, harmony, etc. Technically speaking, everything in the world is subjective. However, despite that, it seems that people tend to generally agree on what is considered good and bad in art and music. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Retomathic - 12-17-2013 did i miss anything? since november RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - wolfman - 12-17-2013 I guess this video here. Spoiler below!
