RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Kullin - 12-23-2013 Okey, thank you guys! I'll post another picture when im done! ![]() RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Romulator - 12-24-2013 Not quite finished, just making sure I have got the basics down for this outside map. I'm assuming it's a bit bright for the fog however? ![]() Full size here: http://oi39.tinypic.com/2w70i83.jpg RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Slanderous - 12-24-2013 (12-24-2013, 11:19 AM)Romulator Wrote: Not quite finished, just making sure I have got the basics down for this outside map. The fog should be darker imo RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CorinthianMerchant - 12-24-2013 (12-24-2013, 12:25 PM)Lazzer Wrote:(12-24-2013, 11:19 AM)Romulator Wrote: snip Yes, and make it a slight shade of orange, it will match the streetlights better. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Romulator - 12-24-2013 Awesome guys. Like I said, wasn't finished at all. Was just looking at ways to improve. Might use a different angle as well. I'd give you all rep right now, but my iPod is a nuisance at doing that :p I'll fix that up later on my laptop. ![]() RE: Screenshot criticism thread - MyRedNeptune - 12-24-2013 (12-24-2013, 03:06 PM)Robosprog Wrote:(12-24-2013, 11:19 AM)Romulator Wrote: Not quite finished, just making sure I have got the basics down for this outside map. I'm assuming it's a bit bright for the fog however? Don't listen to Robo, complementary colors don't really matter much. It's close enough anyway. I mean, come on. Does it really make a difference if the sky is cerulean instead of cyan? Nope. And red lights would just look super awkward and unnatural. Not only that, but complementary colors aren't even a universally standardized concept. They depend on the color system you're using. Thus, the complementary for red can be either green or cyan, and the complementary for yellow can be either navy blue or purple. So just go with whatever colors you like. As long as you're using something vaguely cool together with something vaguely warm, you will have sufficient balance. That said, I think the lights you have are too orange. The streetlights themselves glow yellow, so yellow pointlights/spotlights would be more appropriate. The way you have it now looks pretty unrealistic. And it needs to be less saturated, too. I like the color of your fog, but your boxlight is too dark for it. The transition from nearly black to light gray looks really odd. Also, what Robo said about detail. ![]() RE: Screenshot criticism thread - MyRedNeptune - 12-24-2013 I don't understand which part of my comment you're replying to with that sentence. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - MyRedNeptune - 12-24-2013 Okay, I'll trust Kreek on this one. ![]() Let's talk about the pic you posted. First of all, whoever made that comparison is a big fat cheater because they increased the sharpness and contrast of the second image. Here's a much better example: ![]() The second image still has more contrast, but it's easy to see why. In the first image, the squirrel is a greenish yellow and the background is a warmish green. They do not contrast with each other well because they are both similar warm colors. This has nothing to do with whether they are complementary or not. Take a look at this: ![]() Each example looks good, because in each example the warm color of the squirrel is juxtaposed with the cool color of the background. And that is all you need to create contrast. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Zokrar - 12-24-2013 Thoughts on this? ![]() |
