RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - jens - 11-02-2011 The problem is that the driver is not installed, so as long as the driver is missing you can't play any 3D games. Have you tried the driver only installation, instead of the full package, https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/10-2_legacy_vista32-64_wdm.exe ? RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - vladdracul - 11-02-2011 I've tried both heheh.. Once I run the program(s), and it says it's finished, does it mean its installed??? Or do I need to do something else for it???? ..I think its becasue the ATI Display Driver won't install when I run the full package.. but I really have no idea RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - jens - 11-02-2011 As long as you get the inf error message and the log says the driver failed to install you will not have completed the installation successfully. It needs to run without any error messages. Perhaps your does not have the correct permissions to run the installer properly or something like that. Are you 100% sure your OS is vista 32bit? RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - vladdracul - 11-02-2011 yeah that's what I figured .. And yeah I'm sure, right-clicking and selecting properties in 'my computer' it says "System type: 32-bit Operating System" RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - plutomaniac - 11-02-2011 do the cleaning again http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-11075-post-99945.html#pid99945 RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - vladdracul - 11-03-2011 Did clean again, installed the driver only installation (which was successful), but when I tried to install the full package again I got the 'INF' error message... what the hell is the INF file anyway? And if the program cant find it where is it? or where should it be? RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - jens - 11-03-2011 So the driver only installation was successful? Then it should work to play games as the driver was installed. RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - vladdracul - 11-03-2011 well it was successful..but after installation and after a reboot I still couldn't play any games :/... but that's ok I think, becasue I believe I fixed it...started reading about the INF file on other forums and came across the suggestion to update the driver software from the device manager...took a little while for windows to find the program or update or whatever, but it required a reboot afterwards so i did that. When the computer started up again my desktop looked as if nothing had ever been done to it (after I uninstalled ATI and all that it was all weird with different resolution etc), its like none of icons have been moved..anyway.... now after that update via the devise manager all of my games work again, and I was also able to start up and play Penumbra Overture successfully RE: Penumbra Overture - problem with graphics card - jens - 11-03-2011 Glad to hear! |
