RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Wooderson - 06-04-2012 I have never played a 3D game before so I am not entitled to an opinion. RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Zarniwoop - 06-04-2012 +1 vote for Frictional to work on s3d for this. To those people who complain that stereoscopic gives them a headache: I think you misunderstand the request here. We want s3d support, we don't want to buy YOU a stereoscopic rig and FORCE you to play it. I really don't care how you play your games. This thread is not for you. As for Frictional, I know it's quite a bit of work to make this request happen, but it's not a total rewrite. There are existing projects that exist for displaying opengl in s3d. As an example, look for that minecraft wrapper that enabled stereoscopic. It had some design flaws, but the basic principal can be applied. There's enough people who want it, why don't you figure out the number of hours that it'll take, and start a kickstarter to fund it. One programmer could probably do this within a month. I would pledge $20 to get a stereoscopic version. Yes I've tried 3D games, and I almost immediately wanted to switch to 2D after a few minutes. And it's not even that it gives me a headache, it's that (for me at least) the effect makes it hard to focus on things, it makes the entire screen look like a jumbled mess that takes some real attention to actually focus on, and then after a few minutes the effect almost completely goes away making it look like a basic 2D screen with annoying glasses you have to wear. As for Frictional doing it, I can almost guarantee you they won't. The demand for Amnesia on consoles is much larger and yet it hasn't been done yet. RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Ahmed Quast - 06-04-2012 Noone cares why you don't like 3D. RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Prelauncher - 06-04-2012 3D is not always bad and useless. If it is used properly it can be very entertaining and enhance the experience as long as the movie/game is made to be in 3D. For example, Avatar, one of the best looking movies I've ever seen and it looked great in 3D since the movie was made with 3D in mind. The proplem with 3D comes when the producers suddenly in after-production goes, "Do you know what would make this movie much better? If we made it 3D." And then they just add a shitty 3D effect with a computer. But still, I doubt 3D is a priority at Frictional Games. RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Licaon_Kter - 06-04-2012 +1 for properly done S3D yeah RE: I have to nag you about stereoscopic amnesia again - Mine Turtle - 06-04-2012 this would be a big waste of time. Okay, it looked pretty kickass, I admit, but the runtime was like almost 3 hours. Apart from the movie being extremely boring you can't expect someone to sit through a movie in 3D for that long. You have to focus really hard just to see what's going on, which makes most people nauseous and at least gives them a minor headache. Is it really worth it? |
