Ok I think I may have figured out why my previous save may not have been working. It may have been that I saved it during the cutscene where you walk up to the glowing blue orb. I have just went and replayed through that part and now that im past the glowing blue orb cutscene it saves and loads fine.

Oh yes, this is the most "heavy" part of the game and usually causes problems at lower-end graphics cards. Anyway, have fun with the game!

It's strange that it occurred here, as a GT430 is not exactly a lower-end
At least it beats the 6800 many times overs and i used it while scripting the event and I never experienced the issue!

To be honest this card is a huge bottleneck to a Core i7 system with 6GB of RAM.
I wonder, what is so special with this specific part of the game that causes so many problems at lower end cards? It is the only place that Intel HD cards cannot handle. And obviously other "lower-end" ones have issues.
Well, Low-end is an Intel HD card, mid range is for example a GTX 460. High-end is a GTX 570 and up. (I'm not taking Amnesia as an example here though, for this game these are lower)
EDIT: I'm going to try what he did tomorrow. Maybe this is a bug no matter what gpu someone has.

i played the game for a while working fine but on some lvls. lines will appear on my screen an i can kinda see a shadow of the map on the bottom left of the screen then i go an restart it now everything black but i can still move around an do everything its just everything is black even if i put the lantern on it does nothing

provide us with more information like graphics card, hpl.log, operating system etc...
