I already updated it while waiting for your answer, but still no results. This time when I clicked the bat file it asked for the serial number and then the same old Amnesia started up.

Good, that is an expected and desired result. What you do then is copy over installkey from Documents/Amnesia/Main to Documents/Amnesia/White_night.
Edit: Wait, how does the the Dark Descent still run? This doesn't make sense.

No, that would result in installkey being written to Documents/Amnesia/White_night. I can't figure out why yours is still running the original game and not White Night. It's like the game isn't accepting the arguments being passed to it. I'm not sure what to tell you.

Well, there's one possible alternative you could try. Having Desura do the work might make it work.
