If you want a more powerful program, use CrazyBump. It allows for easy awesome results with bump/specular/parallax/etc maps.

The model looks nice, good job !

But even if this is a main view object, the polygon count of the ... pipes? is a bit too high I think. You used 32 vertices on each side, and you won't see any difference, if you take the half.
And... mh, that's not even logic,

it's always better having less polygons, as long as you won't notice any differnce.
(I mean I suck at lowpoly-modeling, but maybe you can do better.)

A simple black scorpion. Use it in darkness and you have the player scared at the moment:

Would you like to animate it if you want? I'm not going to actually use it and it seems you like it. Plus, I'm searching a way to export animations correctly from Blender.
