RE: Why does Amnesia have absolutely no idle movement?! - darkely - 09-27-2012 Well in the case of other games (like the Scout) if you are holding a large bat in the air like he is - he will need to hold it upright (ready to attack) but also balance it properly. There's an article on The Escapist where Thomas writes about their economical situation when they made Amnesia, it was so close that Amnesia wouldn't have been released.Statyk Wrote:The work output for that is incredible. But then I'd like to see them do it more like they did in Mirror's Edge and perhaps ArmA, and not like it's done for example: in Halo, where you look down and only see your legs and not the body. I mean, you'd have to lean forward like crazy to only see your legs and not the rest of the body! Not just a floating hand holding a lantern..Certain games have that. 1916 has that. RE: Why does Amnesia have absolutely no idle movement?! - Hunter of Shadows - 09-28-2012 Because for an indie game doing so would require enough effort that like they've said, sprinkles on icecream for less icecream RE: Why does Amnesia have absolutely no idle movement?! - Daniel Topping - 09-28-2012 28'th of september, 2012. There is actually a very simple answer to this question good sir, I am incredibly hunched over when I walk, it's the cause of covering in fear on many occasions. This resulsts in me not actually being able to see my legs as I look down, as for the shadows, well I may or may not be a vampire, I am not entierly sure as of yet. The fact that Amnesia was finished and released shows an incredible amount of effort within itself. They simply did not have the time and resources to do this at the time. RE: Why does Amnesia have absolutely no idle movement?! - cantremember - 09-28-2012 Most FPS games I know, even big names like the whole Half-Life series etc. don't have a body modeled either in 1st person. If you look down you have no legs. I guess it would be a lot of work to get the animations smooth enough for them to look good at all in first person, and players rarely look down to look at their feet anyway. For the lantern not having an idle animation, I never even really noticed that. RE: Why does Amnesia have absolutely no idle movement?! - Statyk - 09-28-2012 It DOES have an idle animation, it's just very subtle to make up for the arm movement when running/looking as well as the lantern sway. I mentioned that. It's very subtle, first time I didn't even notice that. But who cares about a lamp's idle animation when you play a game? Oh wait, TVTropes. |
