Just need some sleep. 11:31pm now and unfortunately back at school (I'm 16) ![]() I'll add that to my notepad :3 RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - failedALIAS - 04-16-2013 The room should be presented as if it were well-lit, as the space itself serves in no way to build a sense of animosity or atmosphere to the player. Either that, or complete darkness without sanction, so that the player might wander aimlessly, stumbling across wall or decor with all the reassurance of a bump in the night. Maybe you could make creative use of welders or something to create an effect like this? RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - 7heDubz - 04-17-2013 Clear up the dark spots with a box light. Try making the window one of the larger ones. The special floor in the middle end's abrubtly make a it a little larger so that you get that shadowy effect you see on the rest of tiles. it looks like a sentance that say's this "The man walked across the room and" RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - 04-17-2013 Also I just noticed those small windows which are crammed right under the ceiling... that looks a bit strange I think. Either a huge window goes from the floor up to the ceiling or it's a small window that's about waist to chest-high with it's lower rim, but you usually don't see small windows so high up on a wall. ![]() RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - FlawlessHappiness - 04-17-2013 The white floor in the middle? That's a nono ![]() As YC said, support for the ceiling. Also, the balcony... The floor underneath looks very very thin! You should at least give it planks in a width of 0.25. Sofas, tables, chairs and shelves! Ceiling tiling should be decreased, since the ceiling is so big RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - Romulator - 04-17-2013 Okay guys, for now, I will put it to rest. As you map more, you learn more techniques, so I may be able to provide better stuff in future. Spoiler below!
What I added: (based on the original design) - Plenty of sofas around the wall along the far wall from the stairs - A bar with many bottles near the stairs - The ballroom like floor - The small stage with a piano (which removed the corner room) - An interactable script which plays Ballroom music around the piano. - Wooden welders along the roof - Lowered tiling on the roof - More support for the roof and balcony - Wooden panel with 0.5 Y scale between the balcony floor and "roof" - An interactable bed which restores Sanity when rested on (off screen) - An extra, fat chandelier between to smaller two What I didn't add (and reason): - A large window: Architecturally, I cannot fit one in on either end of the room, and wherever I can, it would either be too high or not large enough. - A "hole" in the roof: There is a storey above; which is actually essential for the story. What I will add: - Maybe a custom painting or two along the far wall based on the third picture - A light source above the dark spot visible in the third image. - A flashback (when I learn how to work these). Comments: The floor, I will admit, DOES kinda look like a Disco kind of thing ![]() I will keep the white shiny tiles as they are. Personally they look lovely as compared to just a random carpet to dance on (specially the carpets in Amnesia...) xD I shall move onto my next area, which is an Art Gallery. A smaller, single storey area which has a puzzle of some sort in it. I will not reveal anything about it, even I do not know the puzzle. That's up to my female friend CJ ![]() ============================================================================= To the admin: For now, we can mark this as [SOLVED] if needed be ![]() RE: Ideas to fill up the space? - FlawlessHappiness - 04-17-2013 I love galleries! ![]() In horror games |
