Game is actually from Humble Store and I had the most up-to-date version installed for both the game and the graphic driver on the computer it didn't work. So unless you found a bug in the code that caused this and fixed it lately I think it would still be present.
As I already installed and finished the game on another computer (with Windows Vista instead of Windows 8), I don't really feel like doing any further tests, just thought the info might help with finding the bug.

There is no such bug since noone else had it. That computer has some driver issue most probably. A repair would most probably fix it. Nevermind...
