RE: Song lyrics and meanings - PutraenusAlivius - 10-30-2013 This was on the Voyager Golden Record. It's just humming and moaning. You can feel the emotions of loneliness. In fact, the only song I understand but don't care for the lyrics for is "Clean My Wounds" by Corrosion of Conformity. The songwriter is against religion and sometimes incorporates this anti-religion in his songs. the main lines in the song that make this clear? Help me Jesus, help me clean my wounds He said, He cannot heal that kind Bleeding soul becomes a bitter mind He said, It happens every time (Knock it down) And that's how the story goes (Knock it down) In the land of a 1000 no's (Knock it down) I'm all over you in time my mind is changing Oh knock it down "Knock it down" meaning knock down religion, and when I found this out I was like "oh that's what this song means?! Well F**k it! The song is still great!" I have began to listen to Tool, and I stumbled upon a song called "Parabola", simply amazing. Here go the lyrics: "We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment, We are Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside... This holy reality, this holy experience. Choosing to be here in... This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion. Alive This holy reality, in this holy experience. Choosing to be here in... This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion... Of what it means to be alive Swirling round with this familiar parable. Spinning, weaving round each new experience. Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing chance to be alive and breathing. This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember. we are eternal. all this pain is an illusion." I think the author here is saying something pretty clear: He loves the chance to be alive and to enjoy life to it's fullest. RE: Song lyrics and meanings - Wooderson - 06-26-2014 Not sure if its Maynard that writes the lyrics or Adam. I know Adam directs the videos though. Stinkfist is a favourite of mine, RE: Song lyrics and meanings - Nice - 07-03-2014 massive attack is always amazing but i feel like pointing out this one the music video is amazing "run from your fear and it will multiply and keep chasing you, face it and it will dissappear" RE: Song lyrics and meanings - Red - 07-03-2014 It's really sad when people literally doesn't care or dare to even take a look at the lyrics, even though the artist might have put so much effort and feel to them. They only listen to voice of words rather than the meaning behind them. Therefore most of the artists let it be and write something overused shit we hear everyday played by the media. The most used themes are sex, money and love, hands down. Poets Of The Fall is a good band and an example how well words can symbolize things and emotions. I know I've been repeating myself about this band maybe couple of times, but it is just that the band feels underrated. They honestly deserve more. Every song they make has a deeper meaning and a well composed melody. Hell, even their name speaks something already. My pick: Given and Denied Spoiler below!
RE: Song lyrics and meanings - Doqqy - 07-04-2014 If you don't speak Swedish it's a bit useless, but I find the band Kent to have some pretty interesting lyrics. I've been playing their songs out now for the past few days. Their latest album Tigerdrottningen is one of my favourites. Just so many emotions/feelings in those songs, I like it. Nah I also like Kent and the only words I know in Swedish is Hej, Tack and Kuksugare (mandatory to know one bad word when you have Swedish friends haha) Of course it would be great if I could understand the lyrics but they sound nice and the music in general I like. Language isn't always a barrier. RE: Song lyrics and meanings - legolas - 09-23-2014 Huge fan of Insomnium and their lyrics ![]() Learning To Live has some great lines. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dreamtheater/learningtolive.html RE: Song lyrics and meanings - Darkfire - 09-23-2014 (07-03-2014, 04:19 AM)Rőð Wrote: It's really sad when people literally doesn't care or dare to even take a look at the lyrics, even though the artist might have put so much effort and feel to them. Dude, this is like the most accurate explanation to why novadays' songs are so shitty (in therms of the subjects they "discuss"; the music itself is whole another case) PS. I've been really into NIRVANA 's lyrics recently: especially In Utero ones, Heart-Shaped Box n stuff |
