RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - assasin199127 - 01-07-2014 I don't know about openAL and yes it is from steam. also I just remembered the problem after the changing of sound card but I wasn't using previous one anyways. I use Logitech G930 wireless headset which doesn't requires soundcard. (bought new one just to watch movies with friends). p.s. I can't even extract download archive from zip. is archive damaged? RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - plutomaniac - 01-07-2014 The OpenAL default device as seen at HPL.log is SB 5.1 VX which is the Creative sound card. From the launcher make sure you select the Logitech headset as sound output. The .zip file was created with 7zip but it works perfectly fine with 7zip, WinRar and the default windows zip viewer. RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - assasin199127 - 01-07-2014 I did that, it isn't working. also here is the error (when I only try to extract) RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - plutomaniac - 01-07-2014 The file works perfectly fine, download it from another browser and use a proper tool such as WinRar (or even the windows zip viewer) in case you are using something rare. As far as the other problem is concerned, there is something wrong with your sound configuration at Windows if changing output does not work. Maybe old sound drivers causing problems, maybe the current creative card causing issues, maybe you need to install logitech software, maybe OpenAL is not installed properly, maybe windows default sound device is configured wrongly etc... You have to look this on your own first, it is not a problem of the game itself but rather a specific computer hardware or operating system configuration issue. RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - assasin199127 - 01-07-2014 well, it's kind of 50/50 if it was PC problem than other games should have had problem as well, but only this one has. and I understand that it has something to do with configuration and I addressed forums (I am very lazy with this create account/wait for response things so it means I am desperate [kind of]) so well I am desperate... I am looking for the thing that is specific for AMFP but I can't find solution. RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - plutomaniac - 01-07-2014 Amnesia uses OpenAL, other games might not use that sound API/implementation. 1) Have you succeeded in updating OpenAL from the .zip file I attached above? 2) Verify file integrity via steam. Then, go to Documents and rename the folder Amnesia to Amnesia_TEST. Try again. RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - assasin199127 - 01-08-2014 As, I mentioned I can't even extract file from archive it gives me strange error. I will try the steps you showed and respond. Update: 1. through I have verified and reinstalled game several times, when I verified now it was missing 79 files. 2. I managed only to find OpenAL 2.0.7 (closest to 2.1), interestingly there aren't many download places for it. 3. Changed name of folder Amnezia to Amnezia_Test 4. Still no sound only changes are in graphic. p.s. I checked main_settings.cfg and the sound options are "<Sound Device="0" Volume="1.000000" MaxChannels="64" StreamBuffers="8" StreamBufferSize="262144" />" sound device="0" << maybe this is problem? RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - plutomaniac - 01-08-2014 Indeed OpenAL is surprisingly very hard to find. Anyway, I reuploaded the file and did a small trick. Download oalinst.zip and change it to oalinst.exe (it's actually a .exe file). 1. Make sure you have no errors, run it 2 times to verify. 4. What do you mean all the changes are in graphics? If you mean after renaming the Amnesia folder, that's normal since that just deletes the game settings. Sound Device="0" it the setting that you change via the sound options of the launcher. Try 1 or something manually but normally the same thing does the launcher and in-game option. Maybe also check in-game if the correct audio source is selected (I don't remember if you can via the game but check it out just in case). RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - assasin199127 - 01-08-2014 1.installed successfully. 4. I meant just graphic settings resolution and some other stuff. yes I know why it happened. so that proves what I thought problem isn't with settings. yes you can (but you need to restart). and setting it manually didn't help either. here is another thing I am thinking about: maybe, somehow game sends sound signal through HDMI cable, which is connected through my monitor ( I have GTX660 and it is an audio device as well). well it isn't even selected as audio device and I have never actually used it for audio but... who knows. But that isn't much possible. RE: Amnesia: MFP has no sound at all!!! - plutomaniac - 01-08-2014 I see that you have many sound configurations in your system that can cause problems not only with Amnesia but other titles as well. If you don't use your sound card, why is it there? Also, the HDMI cable for audio passthrough is not required since you use the USB headset. I suggest you remove all other sound configurations that could cause potential problems meaning removing from the mobo the non-used Creative card (with the Windows drivers of course) as well as the HDMI cable for audio from your 660. After that, if you check the HPL.log file it should only state one audio device as OpenAL default - your headset. |
