RE: soma on xbox one/360 - Googolplex - 08-06-2014 (08-06-2014, 07:09 AM)Romulator Wrote: No. Right, the engine is not very powerful, but it requires a lot of strong hardware to run on high settings. Even Amnesia runs extremely slow when playing with 32x (or more) SSAO samples. And HPL3 even got a lot of additional features. An engine doesn't need to be powerful - the best games have totally outdated engines. But it's not just about the graphics. There is other stuff like the physics that needs a lot of hardware. Consoles, even the "Next-Gen's" are just powerful like a 500$ PC. RE: soma on xbox one/360 - Paddy™ - 08-13-2014 Judging by what Adrian Chmielarz has said in response to questions about whether or not his game will be released on the XBone in future, it seems that that particular console isn't too friendly to indie devs, owing to Microsoft's "parity clause". This clause has cost the platform quite a few titles so far, and it wouldn't surprise me if SOMA is one of them. Sony seems to be grooming the shit out of indies like a rich uncle with a candy factory. Microsoft treats indie devs with the same cautious bemusement as that of Rolf Harris' lawyer. RE: soma on xbox one/360 - eliasfrost - 08-15-2014 Yeah it is a pretty contradictory move, since very few indie dev teams have the funds to develop for multiple system simultaneously. RE: soma on xbox one/360 - Paddy™ - 12-31-2014 An Xbox One version is a possibility: Spoiler below!
