RE: Your dumbest mistake - HumiliatioN - 09-21-2014 My dumbest mistake was when I was first times, making something with the editor and worked a long time with my first couple maps, well... couple times my editor crashed and I didn't saved. Well later I re-worked everything again... like 3-5 hours in one sit, finally I was like "Woah, this is really detailed and nice map with 300 lines of code, many areas, rooms..." well... then my phone was ringing, my friend asked me "Do you wanna hang out or do something with him" I thinked fast... and was like yeah, sure "why not" and ended conversation closed the window really quick and turned off my pc. Tomorrow... I was working my maps again... hmm... I was like where my maps "NO, NO, NO, It can't be then the worst happened, I didn't save it at all! Just clicking fast "Exit" button and runned my errands. Arrghh.. that was the most failing attempt I ever done when editing and making my own mod and now today I will remember to save, if I continue mod or make something and always SAVE! Remember ppl, when editing or doing something, SAVE your work for the love of god RE: Your dumbest mistake - RedKnight - 09-22-2014 Well, i have another one: When i the first time wanna play a cs, i put it in the folder but it didn't work and i was like ''The Fuck?''. After days without noticing it, it was in the documents folder. RE: Your dumbest mistake - 7heDubz - 09-23-2014 Seems like alot of people have lost alot from not saving. I'm not even gonna lie this only happened to me once and I lost half an hour of work. Because of that I have now developed a habit where I smash control+s in ANY program I use. Geany, Level editor, Microsoft word, anything I can save in I spam save without even thinking about it. Similar thing happened to me, I unknowingly left a newly-made script on the desktop and went round in circles with confusion as to why nothing worked. Glad I caught myself before pleading for help on the forum RE: Your dumbest mistake - CarnivorousJelly - 09-23-2014 I saved TDD's archive map over mine by dragging the map from redist/maps instead of my desktop folder (which was mycs/maps), then fixed the problem by re-saving my map from the still-open level editor, thus deleting TDD's original map entirely. Had to go sulk and ask for a copy of the original map >.> RE: Your dumbest mistake - Gilligan's Hell - 09-23-2014 I broke something somehow and none of the enemies had textures so I tried to manually fix it but instead... I broke everything and I had to reinstall the game to fix it... I break everything in some way... its the one good quality I have. RE: Your dumbest mistake - MsHannerBananer - 09-24-2014 So far, I've only had one really persistent problem with mapping and scripting, haha. I watch a lot of Game Grumps, especially when mapping and stuff, and they mention Barry a lot. Whenever I name a crowbar in the editor or write crowbar in the .lang, I occasionally write crowbarry, and never seem to catch it. So I always end up playing my maps and wondering why my titles aren't showing up, or are titled crowbarry, haha. RE: Your dumbest mistake - MrBehemoth - 10-09-2014 Noooooooo! I just saved over a completed map with an empty one. And I was thinking about backing them up not 15 minutes ago. Grrrrrrr! There's not much hope, but I'm currently running a recovery scan whilst I sit here alternately growling and weeping. RE: Your dumbest mistake - Red - 10-10-2014 2 years of work + one HDD + one stormy nigth = Loss of one HDD, 2 years of work gone to waste & knowing how stupid I was for not backuping everything. RE: Your dumbest mistake - FlawlessHappiness - 10-10-2014 Back up guys! I'm gonna say it again! BACK UP!!! |
