Other users seem to be having the DevIL error now. Did you guys update the game recently? Maybe you accidentally included some older libraries. I don't know since I don't have it installed anymore.

However I don't think these errors are linked to the frame drops. Do you recall what user you posted with a year ago? Maybe a clue there what was done last time to solve the issue.

Well the user I was using should have been the one I'm using now, I use the username for every forum I go on. I tried logging in and it said it didn't exist.

I do recall reinstalling Windows 7 a bunch of times, but that didn't fix the problem. Someone then messaged me on Steam and asked me if the game was crashing, I said no there was a bunch of stuttering going on, and he said to download "Gamebooster" (I was weary because I downloaded it before and it didn't make a difference in any other game). I went ahead and downloaded it and I didn't witness any drops after, even after uninstalling it, the game ran perfect so I dunno what the cause could be.

When playing Justine, when I walked into the area with the first guy, the framerate cuts to 30, when I disable Vsync it doesn't cut at all and stays at 60.

I don't recall having DevIL errors then, though. Alot of models failing to load and it was significant amounts, too.

Yes, the game was updated yesterday. I'm not noticing any devil errors anymore but it says there are models that are missing or can't load.

It is normal that the framerate drops to 30 from 60 if you have vsync active, if it can't keep up with 60, say only 59 fps, then the framerate will be 30. It is possible that if you manually edit the settings file in documents/amnesia/main/ and turn off LimitFPS that could change the behavior to slightly better.

Could also be that you are running the game with high ssao and samples? You should leave those at default as they are very demanding and makes extremely minor difference. With default the game should have no problem staying above 60.

It's all on high except the SSAO, they're at default settings. I learned my lesson about the SSAO samples a looong time ago.

It could also be the result of background programs/services causing slowdowns. All programs such as gamebooster, fraps, antivirus etc. Have you tried that? And yes, vSync is normal as Jens said.

The only antivirus running all the time is Microsoft Security Essentials. I don't use more than that and Malwarebytes.

Not so much the antivirus, all other programs. I also strongly advise against software such as GameBooster and stuff like that.

None of that is installed anymore, besides my hardware is very powerful so I have no need of such programs.

Any update? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Update on situation: Tried a custom story and still having the same problem. Seems to be more intense this time.
