I played "World Racing 2" a very good racing game online with a 68 year old. He was one of the fastest drivers in the elite server. I also met an old man over 60 years who played The Witcher 2. This was some years ago where this game was some weeks out.

I am 26, but I play old games like NFS PU and its predecessors NFS High Stakes, NFS III and II SE, Gothic, Indiana Jones Infernal Machine, No One Lives Forever, Dragon's Lair 3D, Mercedes-Benz World Racing and Silent Hill 1-3 for example.

It's good you play those older games. A lot of people would snub them purely based on their age, and a lot of the ones you've mentioned are classics.

To those younger members here, consider yourselves lucky. Everything is fresher for you and you have plenty new gaming experiences ahead of you. Smile.

I love how some of you had to look whippersnapper up. Trust me, I use the term very loosely.

I have noticed though, that my game tastes have changed over the years. It's become more and more about the story and less about the action. That's why games like Amnesia and Soma appeal so much.

A major problem of most modern games compated to old games is that they were no longer made with love for art, instead just for a fast profit. It's only the money, money and more money. But quality goes down. You could be very happy to be here now, at Frictional Games community.

If I could describe FGF in three things I would say:

Disfigurement,
Banter and
Goth Girls

Sláinte (cheers) everybody!

Implying that old games weren't made for money.

I also wonder this. I mean, why aren't games free? Clearly for the purpose of making money. What we should do is perform a bolshevik revolution against the game industry and nationalize all gaming companies and have all games funded with tax-payer money. As a result, all games will free and the only ones that will be attracted to the game industry would be the true artists, because true artists don't do art for money. I think of the great games such as the Gothic series or Risen and so on, they should be free because they are the purest expression of art, both in gameplay, story and narrative.

Nationalize the Gaming Industry!

Money is not always the first goal. Some games were made just to be a fantastic. There are devs who said it is not important for them how often their game sold. Their only goal was to create their "dream".
And many old games are less mainstream as today. Now the branche is only about money. I'm talking for AAA titles.
