Sorry for the lack of update. Yeah the plan is to add at the very least a command line option to force a specific speaker mode. I asked FMOD developers for support on this issue and they said that linux speaker auto-detection is non-existent due to the large variety of audio setups for linux distributions so this is our only option (manual selection).
I'll update this thread when this feature is added.
