Reminds me of Korsakovia for Hl2...

Nah, Korsakovia has a beautifully told story, whereas Mistake doesn't have a story at all afaik.

I played a bit of Korsakovia. I stopped either because it crashed or because I had no clue what to do. I forget which. I'll play it again someday, but I don't remember it being nearly as dark or atmospheric as Mistake-1.

Korsakovia has flickering flashlight too...

RE: Mistake-1 (Half-Life mod) - Bek - 12-22-2010

Yeah Korsakovia did have some parts where I had NO idea what to do, and some parts where I was lost. Solution? No clip.

Yeah, I think actually I did get stuck and then when I figured where to go I crashed. Anyway, I loved Dear Esther and the guy who made this is a Saint of video game storytelling so I'll try it again someday.

I wonder why a mod like that hasn't gotten any lime light.

As far as I can tell, it's old and in the shadow of Afraid of Monsters, which, as far as I could tell before it got frustrating and I left it, is far less scary.

Korsakovia is also *designed* to be counter-intuitive. You're actually supposed to have no idea where to go, and get the wrong idea on what you need to do next. This is supposed to instil the sensation of madness and the frustrations of dealing with the world through that lens. It also means the game is hard and you often have no idea what to do, making it less than popular.
