At least this is what I've seen happen in my map on a consistent basis. Another reason for this I learned, is so that they will actually chase you into an area... I noticed before I had path nodes placed outside of the patrol route, I could easily escape a close encounter if I ran to a place lacking nodes..as the thing seemed very reluctant to chase me into those areas as soon as I disappeared from sight. |
