No, but it's a pale-skinned humanoid with a disco-ball for a head and bulky arms. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Draug - 04-09-2014 Here's a screenshot of the monster: Spoiler below!

And from my experience, the majority was disappointed by amfp. Every single one of my friends who played TDD was disappointed, almost every comment I read on youtube or interview pages about amfp or soma reference their disappointment with amfp, or just look at some reviews/metacritic. They all rate it lower than TDD. There's a few people that quite liked amfp but it's clear to me that they are minority. I'm sorry but you can't use 'me and my friends and stuff I see on the internet' as a basis for measuring objective popularity. I suspect that you're seeing what you want to see, the same way people who do like the game are more likely to see positivity. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - i3670 - 04-09-2014 (04-09-2014, 12:16 PM)Ethelros Wrote:(04-08-2014, 08:59 PM)Damascus Rose Wrote: Text about how badly amfp was received. I believe that the reason to Amfp's "bad" ratings are because of the Amnesia name and what we associate with it. However, if you look at amfp with a new set of eyes you can see that amfp has, in my opinion, outdone Frictional in every field except in the direct horror part. The sounds are better, the way the levels weave into each other makes sense, the story is better. For example, when I interact with a locked door in amfp there's a slight metallic click whereas when I do the same in TDD it sounds to me now like being hit over the head with a hammer. This is repeated in other situations. The way the levels interact with each other works better in amfp. In TDD every level seems random: let's have a laboratory connected to the entrance hall then we can have a prison leading directly to the centre of the castle via an elevator. The theme of the levels change so much. Whereas in amfp you're always in a factory setting fiddling around with machinery. Amfp's story hung around longer. For quite a while I pondered on the philosophical meanings that AMFP displayed, which I never did with TDD. I agree that if you are looking for a more in-your-face horror TDD is your bet but if you are looking for a deeper story you should go for AMFP. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Slanderous - 04-09-2014 The monster shown in the gameplay had terror meter from MFP, listen carefoully in the few last seconds of the video. Looks like another placeholder. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - plutomaniac - 04-09-2014 It definitely looks like a grunt. If you check the video at 3:40 you will notice that it even makes the same attack animation the grunt does when it tilts the body to the right and uses the left hand to attack. These distortions make it a lot harder to notice but for regular Amnesia players it shouldn't be hard to identify the pattern. http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/o1jjpe/soma-preview |
