RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 09-30-2012 (09-30-2012, 08:01 AM)failedALIAS Wrote: GuessI don't think you're using enough hearts there, failedALIAS. On Topic: This is a thread for gauging the quality & providing constructive criticism of various HPL2 environments presented via screenshot. Having that much blur on the screen really makes it hard to see the smaller details. It may look fine in game, but isn't good for this thread in particular; it ultimately limits how much we can help. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Robby - 09-30-2012 I know, Andy. I just love the effect itself. But yeah, the screenies with the blur are not exactly the best. In-game, yup. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Hardarm - 09-30-2012 That blur is part of the intro, and I have to find a good way to fade it off correctly along with the map! I wanted to give a glimpse of some of the areas though ^^ EDIT: I will repost screenshots without the blur. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Hardarm - 09-30-2012 It's from my upcoming unannounced project, which will end most likely like my other stuff. But yeah i'll try to get help @ storywriting. *smile* And please guys forgive me about clipping particles, i'm finding a way to make them fit RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Zaari - 09-30-2012 (09-30-2012, 09:20 AM)Hardarm Wrote: It's from my upcoming unannounced project, which will end most likely like my other stuff. However, the rooms in the 3rd and 4th pictures are pretty bright. You should probably lower the lighting there. Also, clipping particle textures are easier to handle if they are the same color as the objects around them. The ones in your pictures are completely white when they should be a darker, slightly brownish color. Anyways, here's a map/room I've been working on lately: Spoiler below!

However, the rooms in the 3rd and 4th pictures are pretty bright. You should probably lower the lighting there. Your pictures look nice but, yeah, you see, there is a window, put some light coming from it, and it isn't the only light source neither, there is a bigass torch, work with Point Lights to manage the light inside the room... Yeah, I have got an average gamma value when I screenshot but you should make the area a bit more bright because of the light sources you got there, cannot see much details more than what the lights brighten My map has got those bright particles because some are in front of the window light that's why they look like that, it's dust, and I make a lot of brown particles in dark area that's why they look "completely white" (rgb 0.5) because they're exposed to light. Other than that your pics are good. EDIT: don't mix light blue with yellow light in a room, the lighting in the room will look too fancy other wise. As I said make the room a bit more brighter and work with point lights to adjust the light. Also, all the map should have a very very dark boxlight (thanks Robosprog) to make the atmosphere, yours have got windows and I don't seem to see any boxlight there, but detailing is really nice RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Hardarm - 11-25-2012 BUMP 4 GRAET JUSTICE!, THIS THREAD SHOULD BE ALIVE! RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Streetboat - 11-25-2012 RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Alex Ros - 11-25-2012 StreetBoat's Deterioration... http://imgur.com/a/NTGvx#0 and my favorite among them... RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Streetboat - 11-25-2012 Acies is kindly helping me out with this little project by making custom models that fit with the aesthetic, but here is what I achieved using Amnesia's and Justine's assets. It's a hunting lodge. Front Porch: Working lights with switch activators (Click spoiler): Spoiler below!
Circular and open-space architecture: NOTE: Clearly a WIP, what you see here is just the bare bones. I obviously need to add decor and scripts. |
