RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Ashtoreth - 08-30-2014 Even if the information on that website is reliable, we have to keep in mind that Play-Asia is based in Asia and caters mostly to Asian customers. Notice that SOMA's product description shows the USA flag, which most likely means that Play-Asia would have to import the game from the USA, and that might explain why the price displayed is so high. I assume that in a US or EU based store, the price will be lower. We shall wait for official information from FG when the time is right. Notice that SOMA's product description shows the USA flag, which most likely means that Play-Asia would have to import the game from the USA, and that might explain why the price displayed is so high. Actually this can be debunked as false on the both the basis of my own experience as an Asian gamer, and the info on the website itself. If you take a look at various other titles on the site which have a US flag, and check their prices you'll find that the titles are all equal to their standard worldwide price (Usually 59.99 for big AAA games for example), and sometimes the pricing is even lower for slightly older titles. This fact takes out the possibility that the price is being inflated for importing purposes, because otherwise the big new AAA games would cost higher than 59.99. On the basis of my own experience (Which is limited since I buy foreign imported games from unofficial 3rd party resellers) the game's prices do not inflate due to having been imported from a foreign country. They are the same as they were there in price (Besides having been converted to the appropriate currency of course) So this basically leaves two possibilities: One is that the website's price tag is a placeholder, and will change when the real price comes out, or that the price is indeed 59.99. EDIT: What I said above mainly applies only to US imported games. After a bit of extra searching on the site I found that the EU, and JP imported games do indeed have higher prices than domestic ones, but since the SOMA displayed here is from US that's pretty much irrelevant information in our case. EDIT 2: Okay prepare for some heavy-duty over-analysis: (08-28-2014, 09:24 PM)Thomas Wrote:(08-28-2014, 08:28 PM)Paddy™ Wrote: It's been a pretty slow week for SOMA news, so I may as well post this: Paddy said in his post that pre-orders have supposedly started on that site, and asked Thomas to comment. Thomas then said that when the pre-orders start he'll tell us. Notice it? He said "when the pre-orders start" that he'll tell us. This could mean that he is implying that pre-orders have NOT started yet, because he has YET to have told us. That would mean that the play-asia site is NOT a pre-order, because if it was then it would have meant that pre-orders have started, and Thomas would've told us. He has not which means that pre-orders have not started, ergo play-asia is not a real pre-ordering spot. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Ashtoreth - 08-30-2014 Thanks for your input. I honestly didn't look at any other titles in that website apart from some Japanese ones which came up when I searched for "SOMA". My only experience with buying goods online from Asia was with music CDs (Monitor Records in Hong Kong), and the albums released by European labels were always more expensive, so I assumed that video games imported to Asia from the EU/USA would be more expensive to customers. Although, on a second thought, I guess the CDs that I bought from Asia were more expensive not because they were imports from Europe, but because they were rare and hard to find. But I digress. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Paddy™ - 08-30-2014 Here's Tapio recording some robot sounds: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=682093331873769 I assume this is for SOMA, anyway. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Sampyli - 08-31-2014 Even if it was as high as 60 dollars, this is one of those games I'm sure would be worth it. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - plutomaniac - 08-31-2014 60? Nope, I don't agree and I highly doubt it. Nor 45. Probably close to Amnesia's price. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Thomas - 09-01-2014 Lemme be slightly more clear: there are no pre-orders available until it is plastered all over the FG site RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Kreekakon - 09-01-2014 (09-01-2014, 09:54 AM)Thomas Wrote: Lemme be slightly more clear: there are no pre-orders available until it is plastered all over the FG site AHA!
