RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Red - 08-08-2014 @Wapez Although tere might be differences like larger room, lack of detail, different windows, it still resembles of the study. Sorry that is how I think, that is what majority thinks. No matter how much words you put in, the screenshot does not change its look, how it resembles. It's not unique in any way. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - sprogrobo - 08-08-2014 you all suck, all of you RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Gilligan's Hell - 08-08-2014 SHOW US YOUR WORK OR DIE! Listen to everything Robo said except for this part. You use whatever color you want. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CarnivorousJelly - 08-08-2014 I actually agree with robo about the colour. Orange would look better c: ALSO IT'S NICE TO SEE YOU AROUND AGAIN, MRN RE: Screenshot criticism thread - MyRedNeptune - 08-08-2014 (08-08-2014, 09:22 PM)Carnivorous Jellybean Wrote: I actually agree with robo about the colour. Orange would look better c: I don't think it would make a difference. The subtleties of the lamp color are minor as far as the general impression of the scene is concerned. Instead, focus on the composition and believability. I would also be wary of making the lamp brighter, it's obviously not the compositional focus of the scene. If you want it to act as a counterbalancing component to the teal, pick a better place for it. The way it's positioned now is not in balance with the teal but rather competing with it. To be honest with you, I'd just remove the lamp altogether. GOOD TO SEE YOU TOO, KIA. YOU'LL ALWAYS BE KIANDRA TO ME. We've discussed this already Robo. Yes, color theory is a thing. To use it as an absolute and impenetrable rule like you suggest greatly limits your capacity for variety and ultimately defeats the purpose of it as merely a tool of expression. Since when is art judged by its strict adherence to rules? If anything, art is created in the violation of rules. Just the fact that there are many different accepted complementary sets depending on the color palette you use (yellow-blue in RGB, yellow-violet in the artist's palette) alone undermines the concept of complementary colors as something absolute. I read it as a suggestion to make the light brighter. I don't see how it can be interpreted as a critique of positioning.
