RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Ashtoreth - 04-08-2015 (04-08-2015, 08:03 AM)FailedExperiment Wrote: SOMA is also a known drug. If you're talking about the fictional drug from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, Thomas has said in an interview that there's no connection with it [source]. If you're referring to carisoprodol, Soma is merely a trade name. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Slanderous - 04-08-2015 Plot twist: "SOMA" is actually set during the terryfying events of Somma battle. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - FailedExperiment - 04-08-2015 I've also noticed that electricity is using far more than any other Frictional game, even Penumbra. In Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, electricity was involved, but only to a certain extent. I've tested it. I went into the electrified waters on the Pigline, and Mandus didn't die, he just kept getting zapped by electricity, and the screen kept flashing white. If what happens in the gameplay teaser trailer, then I'm all for it. I am one to be completely terrified of electricity, due to the extreme pain it causes you before death, and if not death, the burnt insides you will have in the long run. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Macgyverthehero - 04-09-2015 I think I'll stick to my SOMA Theory thread on that question of what SOMA stands for. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - GrAVit - 04-09-2015 Or maybe they just mean the Finnish word "soma" meaning cute or pretty in English? Because that's totally a fitting name for a horror game. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Ashtoreth - 04-09-2015 I would love to see a little robot creature like this one in SOMA, just to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside... ...right before something really bad happens. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - plutomaniac - 04-09-2015 This has been discussed in the past again but my bet is on SOMA = ΣΩΜΑ = BODY in Greek. The stations are named after Greek letters as well so it could make sense. We'll see... RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - FailedExperiment - 04-10-2015 Frictional Games's facebook post stating that they would release the game within four weeks was on March 13th, which was four weeks ago from today (4//10/2015), meaning that SOMA is coming soon. Discounting the possibility of delay, SOMA is right around the corner! Discounting the possibility of delay, SOMA is right around the corner! They didn't say that the game would be released. They only said that it would be "done". There's likely other affairs they have to take care of before they can ship the game out. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Ashtoreth - 04-10-2015 On the 13th of March, what FG posted on Facebook was that the beta for SOMA would be done in 4 weeks. Thomas has recently reaffirmed this information on Twitter: (04-02-2015, 07:37 PM)Paddy™ Wrote:Thomas Grip Wrote:One week until SOMA is in Beta and the game that basically is done except polish & tweaks. After almost 5 years that feels surreal. |
