Just made them today and personally I like them better than my previous but I want to see what I could do better. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Red - 09-25-2014 Not gonna post a huge or smaller wall of text how you could improve that, I'll let that to experts. However, I'll say this: you're pretty good already, and you should not doubt can you desing levels or not. Self deprecation is acceptable, but you would be lying to yourself, if you said you can not do anything at all, that is not the case. Machine room is what you said, and that is what it looks like to me. It looks good, althought it needs some tweaking a little to get the most out of it. Good job. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - FlawlessHappiness - 09-26-2014 Level design looks good. Work on the lighting. The floor is poorly lit, fx. Also decals and particles. More of those. Note i am kinda new to mapping following my bud 7heDubz so kinda learning the ropes here RE: Screenshot criticism thread - FlawlessHappiness - 10-04-2014 Don't place 2 'default' walls on top of each other, unless you know what you're doing. Instead use the wall called 'extension' when placing the second layer. You can change the tile size of the ceiling to something smaller, to make it look bigger. Also, I'd use the wooden planks, as ceiling. They're under 'floor' in 'cellarbase'. The stairs need much more pillars to hold... They'd collapse right away! You've placed torches where nobody would be able to reach them. Instead, try to imagine where people would place the torches realistically, so that it makes sense to light them. They're not supposed to light up the whole room. They're supposed to light the way people would be walking. Your boxlight is too bright. Make it darker. Make it so dark, that where the torches light wouldn't reach, it's very very dark. Right now the torches add almost nothing to the lighting. This means there's no real reason for them to be there. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - FlawlessHappiness - 10-04-2014 It's still not dark enough. You'll have to use numbers below 1. We're talking R = 0.05 G = 0.07 B = 0.09 Also, you just removed all torches. You need to place some. It should be so that the player does not need the lantern for the actual passage, but only for darker routes. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Newsman Waterpaper - 10-04-2014 I recommend adding more detail to the the walls and ceiling like more pipes and decals.
