Thomas, I don't have problems with other OpenGL games. I tried to reinstall Penumbra - the artifacts on screenshots #1-3 appeared exactly after applying patch 1.0.2. In original version and after patch 1.0.1 was applied I had only a problem with light sources (screenshot #4). The RMB bug (screenshot #5) disappeared after Depth of Field was turned off.
I think it's a problem not of all ATI cards but only new HD series. Does anyone have ATI Radeon HD 2900XT? Who experiences problems like me?

Gonna look into it some more, not sure how much I can do at the moment though. Will do my best and try to find some solution.

There are still a variety of severe rendering issues with HD 2900 under vista. Have tried numerous settings. Using Cat 7.8.

What kind of issues? Could you take screenshots?

Sorry for the delay, here are the screenshots:

as you can see, porthole artifacts and map clipping artifacts, also other clipping artifacts that the screenshots can't show. Also, the whole screen still blurs whens depth of field is enabled.

Since this only happens on the ATI HD card, I think it is something specific to that card in some way. I am not even sure if I will be able to fix it. The only "lead" I have is that it might be connected with me using Cg, which is a portable language for writing shaders made by nvidia.

RE: Windows update 1.0.2 released - appledelhi - 08-20-2007

Do you think it is worth trying to get ATI to "fix" their opengl implementation? I have already used their catalyst feedback form and described the problems. Is it likely that they'll respond and fix the problem, or do they need a certain number of complaints for a certain game to even look at the problem? Will they even bother properly supporting an nvidia designed shading language?

I am afraid I do not have a clue really. Penumbra is not a very wellknown game so I am not sure how much notice they will take.

The nvidia shading language compiles the code into an ati shader. But there might be some troubles in the way the ati shader gets generated. What I will try to do is to add some support for a special OpenGL shader called GLSL, but it might take a lil while.

Something just hit me, for those with ATI HD cards, go to Catalyst Control Centre, make sure you have the advanced version on and disable AI Optimize (in the 3D menu). Was a problem in the tech demo and might be the cause for you.

RE: Windows update 1.0.2 released - alexgrb - 08-21-2007

Thomas, AI optimization was disabled all the time. I've sent a complaint to ATI as well. I think the main problem is a driver, so we have to wait while ATI will fix it.
