Modern is something that has a good look of 2000's not castles or mansions (except if the mansion has that good setting that tells its in modern day)
This looks like a pretty good list now

I've never had trouble with it (not saying to trust everything, just that I haven't had problems yet). Wherever White Night is uploaded is a safe to download. I have it and haven't had any warnings from my anti-virus.

Insomnia will change your main game files. Every time I play Amnesia, the main menu says Insomnia. Might want to put a * by that one as a warning.
