You can't go into a store and pronounce "I'm a game devoloper, everyone!" and expect rolayty. I never said that they could burst into a store and expect everything in royalty. I was mostly thinking about what THE GAME, ONLY the GAME cost. RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - WindexGlow - 09-21-2008 So should employees wages be removed from a games production cost? After all, the wages allow the person to survive the way he was surviving before. RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - Penumbra - 09-21-2008 Does it even matter? RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - eliasfrost - 09-21-2008 *Sigh. I am about to write something really nasty here, but I don't 'cause that would just get me banned. I mean it like this, to explain it for a 5 years old: Making of the game, ONLY the GAME. NOTHING ELSE. Modelling Tools, hiring Voice actors, making the engine. That is what i mean by cost of making the GAME. I don't care about the cost of getting food on the table or going buying a new TV. The TV and the food certainly have NOTHING to do with making the GAME ITSELF. That is the RESOURCES for producing the GAME. I hope you get what I mean. I can't explain it even simplier than that. If you can't read that... Well, then you are not worthy my attention anymore. RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - Lysius - 09-21-2008 If you need to have your car repaired, you do not only have to pay for the spare parts, but also have to pay the machanic to get the spare parts into the car. Personnel costs are one part of the costs you have to pay for "making of the game, ONLY the GAME". Without programmers there will not be any game and without payment there will not be any programmers. Why would you count "hiring Voice actors" but not "hiring programmers"? Is there any difference? The voice actors could use this money for buying a TV which has nothing to do with the game. If you do not see humans as a kind of resource needed for any busines, I hope you never try to start one. RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - Penumbra - 09-21-2008 What difference does it make rather who's right or who's wrong? Honestly, why do you guys need to argue over something like this? RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - WindexGlow - 09-22-2008 It makes all the difference! I'm right, you're wrong! RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - eliasfrost - 09-22-2008 No, sorry. I don't want to argue with you guys anymore on this topics. I have tried explaining my point in several posts but you just don't get it into you small heads. This discussion is over. Geez RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - Penumbra - 09-22-2008 At least someone is mature enough to end this argument. RE: 2008-09 Friday 19th, Next project announced - Bloodbath - 09-23-2008 I can't believe this crap. Jens comes on here to post an exciting announcement about Frictionals next project, and a couple guys turn it into this ludicrous, off-topic romp to nowhere. I swear, some of you guys argue just to argue. You must be lonely. Anyway... Thank you Frictional for the announcement. I, for one, have been waiting to hear what was coming next. Sounds great so far. One thing though, I hope you keep the first person view. I think it adds greatly to the immersion of the game. Keep up the good work guys!! |
