I thought those differences make games ultimately different Rolleyes

I'm installing Requiem as we speak, this sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

You're crazy. Just play puzzle games then '-'

I won't feel more scared without enemies. I'd just be able to get on with the puzzles and the story if they weren't there.

I don't like Pineapple, and if I have it on a pizza, it ruins the pizza for me. The enemies are the pineapple on my pizza. I'd enjoy the pizza if it wasn't tripping me up with enemies between every puzzle so I could get on with the stuff I enjoy in the game.

I agree that the enemies really compliment the horror side of Amnesia. And I can see how it can be terrifying to be fleeing from them, hiding in wardrobes hoping they didn't see you. Everyone I know who's played Amnesia were pissing their pants at these parts, but whenever I'm hiding in a wardrobe, I'm just bored. Rather than worrying about being found, I'm waiting for the enemy to just sod off.

It's not what the developers were trying to achieve, I can see that. It'd probably be safe to say that the experience Amnesia offers is lost on me. And I love Amnesia. Which is why I want to enjoy it so much. But I just can't. Sad

Considering that there aren't actually lots of monster encounters on amnesia, this shouldn't be a problem for you. '-'

Besides theme and how you do the puzzles, they're pretty much the same. Sure they're not exactly the same, but they're similar.

Thats what I'm trying to say.

I'm not saying requiem = portal, I'm trying to say requiem ~ portal....

of COURSE they're similar, they're from the same genre!

every horror game is similar somehow, and every FPS game is similar, and...

Penumbra requiem might be similar to portal, but the other penumbras diffidently are not.

Portal/requiem is more like you're in a giant room, figure out how to get to the end.

The other penumbras are more like resident evil/silent hill (at least the old ones), at least in my opinion. You're in a huge area made of multiple rooms in which there are more of their own small puzzles in it, in which you solve a series of puzzles to get to the next area. And its more tied to stealth/horror and a small amount of combat that adds a whole new spin on the game.

p.s. portal isn't a horror game.
