Care to enlighten me how exactly are western and eastern cartoons different things? Because in my opinion they're the same. To me being from different countries doesn't make them different things. RE: Top 10 Favorite cartoon Show. - Wooderson - 12-26-2011 I agree with Carrna. Cartoons are just cartoons... Anime = cartoon in japanese. Actually, this kind of argument is very common between anime fans and people who don't watch anime, because the american cartoons (or any other type of cartoon) are often very childish and usually without any message or strong meaning in it. Anime, the japanese cartoon, put a strong focus on the emotions, the feelings of the viewer and the deep message/meaning in the anime. Anime also usually aims more for teen-agers and adults as it's audience. So..,when you say anime is a cartoon, anime fans might think you mean to a childish, american type cartoons. And say this to you as a big anime fan! I hope i made it clear for you guys RE: Top 10 Favorite cartoon Show. - Carrna - 12-26-2011 Ohhh. But still, japanese have probably made an anime about every possible subject out there, and they're not all deep and dramatic, long stories. There's also a lot of those shorter, humorous and/or childish ones (the ones others than japanese adapt first among their television programs.) Part of western cartoons aren't purely for adults either, Animaniacs for example. I watched it when I was a kid but didn't get most of the jokes since they were so indecent. And when I watched it 10 years later I noticed they weren't even meant to be understood by kids, but adults. I know what you mean about the difference in audiences though. Many western people seem to have strong prejudices about anime. I've seen Berserk being sold in kids' shelf and when asked what the hell it was doing there the seller answered "It's a cartoon." Yeaaaa but it's K18 and there's lots of blood and killing and demons and sex and internal organs... But yeah, I'm aware of the cultural differences. I was thinking more about the technical side of making cartoons and all of them being animated cartoons / animations / animated films despite of their content, style or message. RE: Top 10 Favorite cartoon Show. - Wooderson - 12-27-2011 Also, has anyone seen the sinister cartoon Happy Tree Friends!? Bare in mind, this is one of least violent ones RE: Top 10 Favorite cartoon Show. - Kaizo - 01-03-2012 TV is boring. I only watch YouTube. Yap And why you post this in the FRICTIONALGAMES Forum?
