Possibly some more that I'm sorry to have forgotten when throwing this in here. I basically did that with AMFP when the preview copies started going out, and when I played it, pretty much nothing phased me. September, come faster pls The Gods have spoken. Runs from their wrath ![]() In all honesty, I kind of feel like a kid who found his Christmas presents early and now feels bad for finding them. I got carried away with the excitement of the previews and learned a little too much. I wouldn't have watched an entire upload of the game (if one actually existed) but that's it for me in terms of new info. I'm seriously glad there's only a third of the game out there right now (which I've only seen about 15 mins of footage) If I see anything else new, I will immediately stop. ![]() Repenting rant over ![]() RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Macgyverthehero - 07-22-2015 You know, after exploring the ocean in a submarine in GTA V, I think I realized how creepy it feels to be down there. I always feel like something scary is going to appear near me when I'm underwater and deep in the ocean. Something tells me I'm going to be real uncomfortable outside Pathos-II because of my little phobia of the deep sea. Hard to believe it's already going to be 2 years since the release of A Machine for Pigs, and 5 years since the release of the original The Dark Descent Amnesia game. Everything about SOMA has just really clicked with me, from the initial teasers and live-action tie-ins to the content of the near-final game having been previewed by some outlets. What is really encouraging is how Frictional has taken their time with this game and worked through the tiny details over and over again to get the right feeling going. And the setting is fantastic. I love underwater settings and while of course BioShock was one of the best examples of such, I felt it didn't do as good a job as it could in conveying the oppressiveness of being underwater. So I really like how Frictional has put emphasis on the fact that Pathos-2 is on the precipice of structural collapse in several of its facilities (Lambda at least has been hinted at having been compromised by the Ocean in one of the old Teaser videos) and that there are terrible things lurking underwater. I do hope there are going to be instances where you're going to have to worry about things like drowning or pressure compression. Really excited about the story especially of course. I know that Frictional probably took a lot of points from how much narration and lore (notes and stuff) A Machine for Pigs had which added to its story, while of course keeping the interactivity of The Dark Descent. It's definitely nice to see that initial reactions to the game from the previews seem to be positive overall. |
