Even game designers should know about modelling etc just so they know what they are asking for when talking to environmental artists.

"Dev" can imply a lot of roles within game development though, and if he aspires to become a sound designer or something then no he probably won't need to know about modelling. Programmers - probably not either but definitely wouldn't hurt for them to know.

Of course developers (here referring mainly to project directors) should know absolutely everything about the development process - that does not mean they should be proficient in every conceivable area. An excellent parallel is to be found in music; Conductors are required to know absolutely everything about every instrument in the orchestra and know every piece they conduct inside and out (if they are competent) however they are not required to be able to play every instrument in the orchestra - that's absurd. The director needs to know exactly what they want and how it can be achieved but they still hire other people to do it because it is beyond their abilities.

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - 7heDubz - 08-26-2013

Actually yes ^^ my brother is going to do the main character narration and a buddy of mine is trying out for the crazy king role

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - CarnivorousJelly - 08-26-2013

That's great! I'm glad you found some willing volunteers c:

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - 7heDubz - 10-09-2013

SO! I have come up with a new idea, or more of, a direction for this CS.
Tbh i have lost interest in doing the whole "snowy" thing. I do however, have a new idea that I would like to cover. Now the original idea of how the original story line me and my writer Damon had is still going to be the general same, we simply have to tailor it to fit the different.. Area that the player will be put into.

Couple new questions that I'll feed into the main thread once i get a chance to give it a complete rework over.

Alas, now i must sleep But expect an update tommorow, or perhaps little changes i make from my iphone because i get bored of school.

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - CarnivorousJelly - 10-09-2013

I'm glad this isn't dead! :D

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - 7heDubz - 10-12-2013

Nope not dead! I want to finish it badly but school is getting in the way. That and i don't have 24/7 access to the computer I'm using now. When i get my new one production should speed up.

Main post has been rewritten to reflect the new story!

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - CarnivorousJelly - 10-21-2013

Looking awesome! How's the progress been going (or not going) lately?

RE: Frozen Spirits IFC - 7heDubz - 10-21-2013

Pretty good, just a little more mapping and I should have some screenshots on their way, still tryin to figure out exactly how the story is going to play out over the levels.

This IFC has died. Thanks for the support though!
