RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Damascus Rose - 09-02-2015 The thing is, even if 'soul' and 'mind' are separate we would never be what we are without our brain. Everything we sense, feel, think, experience, all our memories etc. comes from that hunk of matter in your head. How can we say anything about our 'true selves' being separated from our bodies when all we are is a human brain? Think about how advanced our psychology is these days in understanding human behaviour and personalities. We have no idea what true reality could be like outside of the realm of being human, all our needs are human needs and we are limited by what the human body can experience. If somebody dies then gets brought back to life the brain is still there with most things intact (unless it got damaged) and the person/conciousness is the same from our perspective. But then why does our human experience feel so real and unique? I think the question of consciousness is the most profound question we can ask, and will be the hardest problem humankind could try to solve RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Radiance - 09-02-2015 (09-02-2015, 04:49 PM)MrSteve Wrote: I'm an agnostic athiest. Second law of thermodynamics: you cannot start the machine if the energy hasn't been input. MrSteve, somebody must have started your cog to turn. If we trace that back to the past when whole universe started, someone had to turn the cog because system cannot be started by itself. Damacus Rose, theese are though questions. Btw, in SOMA will there be boss fights with different strategy to pull off ? Forget thinking every creature automatically is an "enemy". Even when they are evil, it's not designed to be a conventional enemy. And "boss fights" sounds like to be taken from the end level of Super Mario world. SOMA doesn't even represent itself to be a "game". And especially not for "fun". You are not a "hero" who has to fight against enemies. See it as a deep mental story based experience. Googol, please stop telling people how to interpret things, let them think for themselves, not everyone regards things the way you do, and there is no correct/incorrect way of doing this. You piss alot of people of by doing this and nobody gains anything from it, so please just stop. This is not simply directed towards this thread, this something you do quite frequently. Brus, in regards to your question, the game will most likely not involve anything similar to conventional boss fights, but we don't know. We might see certain elements of it. You piss alot of people of by doing this and nobody gains anything from it, so just stop. Please stop telling me all the time what I have to write and what not! Here and in my other threads! There are of course correct/incorrect ways, because some games or things in general represent specific core elements different than most people might assume. The only one who pisses of is you. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Traggey - 09-02-2015 I get people complaining about your behaviour all the time, and infact I am going to tell you if there's something you can't write, that's basicly the reason I am here, I am a moderator, I moderate. Makes sense? You are being extremely rude and dismissive of others and that is not okay behaviour around a public forum like this. I am going to leave this discussion right here with a simple warning, please stop telling people how they should enjoy their media, that is entirely up to themselves. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Radiance - 09-02-2015 Quoting Traggey and Googolplex Traggey , I didn't get offended. Googolplex, I think you want to protect the Amnesia vibe at all cost. Well, the vibe is great and should be kept but I would like some fresh ideas in SOMA. That's why I made new gameplay concept request. I want to get somewhat involved in the game not just to run and hide. That's my perspective. I'm aware about profund story and I like to think about it. Maybe Simon (the actuall player) will be the real enemy. I was asking about bosses because I saw some demo about creature in locked room and player couldn't escape. So I thought it as "boss fight". I know the story is not percieved that way but when you say to a player "boss fight" you know what he meant. So my better question could be something like : will we be developing different strategies to avade them ? But, I wrote will there be a boss fights? Simple as that. "Boss fights" could also mean the end of encapsulated chapter and the beggining of the next chapter story. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Traggey - 09-02-2015 It has been mentioned that the game will contain different enemy types, some which you might not even know to be friends or enemies. So the way you will interact with the NPC's in the game will certainly differ from what we've seen done before in FG games. To what an excent we don't really have a clue. RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread - Googolplex - 09-02-2015 (09-02-2015, 07:58 PM)brus Wrote: Quoting Traggey and Googolplex Well, maybe SOMA will feature some of your ideas - probably not exactly, but at a similar way. But SOMA is already a fresh experience and much different to Amnesia. There are only very few monsters and the horror is not only about running away from them or hide like it was in Amnesia. To your request with the bombs, Thomas already said that there are assets and maybe users will create custom stories with that. You played Penumbra? There is dynamite you can throw against monsters. |
