RE: SOMA: Preview discussion thread (CONTAINS SPOILERS) - MrSteve - 08-18-2015 Probably just a typo. The Auth from David Munshi says 2015 v1 The tech used in Upsilon looked a little too recent to be tech from 90 years in the future. Then again, I could be totally wrong, but I doubt we'll be using keyboards and monitors in their standard format by 2104 and for Frictional to ignore that would be a little odd. Again, total speculation. I know they used keyboards in Alien Isolation, but that was homage to the movies created in the late 70's/ early 80's RE: SOMA: Preview discussion thread (CONTAINS SPOILERS) - Slanderous - 08-18-2015 (08-18-2015, 09:46 AM)TheTieMan Wrote: I've just noticed this: Maybe that's just system error? Like was it 18 years in the future or something like that? Oh well, maybe I'm wrong. I wonder if the movie will be given away with copies of the game, or as part of an order package? If you use something outlandish, then you lose believability in your story. RE: SOMA: Preview discussion thread (CONTAINS SPOILERS) - MrSteve - 08-20-2015 Hmm. I see your point. Would you mind expanding on why you think the audience expects it? No stab here, I'm just generally curios. I would like something more futuristic from tech 90 years in the the future, but that's my personal expectation. It doesn't have to be so fanciful to be beyond rational thinking, but something to reflect the times (so to speak). Do you mean they give these things to people, because that's what their brains are currently wired to expect? Would that not reflect a lack of confidence in the player to believe what they're being shown, as apposed to what they expect to believe? |
