RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - Gearhead - 06-19-2011

What is this and is there a 64 bit version?

so you have Windows Vista/7 x64? Which one? Yes, there is:

http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20094/a08/Win7Vista_64_15223.zip

If that doesn't work we will try something else and if that fails too then we are out of help.

Okay I'll let you know if it has done anything.
Ran it and did a reboot, nothing's changed.

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - plutomaniac - 06-19-2011

This is my last try:

1) Install back the newest driver from Intel and reboot:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20037&ProdId=3231&lang=eng

2) Uninstall the game completely. Make sure to delete these and then reboot again:

--> The games folder at Program Files (the editor files will be there - delete the whole folder from program files)
--> The folders HLP2 & Amnesia from Documents
--> The folder C:\Users\--YOUR-USER-NAME--\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\ (or whatever folder Amnesia is in - delete the whole folder from there)

3) Install the game and update it with the latest update v1.2:

http://support.frictionalgames.com/entry/98/

4) Download again the HLP2 files and place all its files at Amnesias redist folder at Program Files

5) Now, go to both Amnesia.exe & LevelEditor.exe (at games redist folder), right click > Properties and enable Run as Administrator as well as Compatibility to Windows XP SP3

6) Make sure the game is running and then try the LevelEditor. I hope it works. If the black screen appears give it a moment, wait for it about a minute and if nothing shows up end the process.

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - Gearhead - 06-23-2011

I've done all that you suggested and still nothing Sad

I guess I'll wait for another Intel update and see if that unintentionally fixes it for me. Thanks for your help though.

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - plutomaniac - 06-23-2011

yeah, don't expect Intel to release new drivers any time now. They are not famous for that at all. Well, you could install the previous driver for the editor and the new one of Amnesia every time. This is your only option. I did everything I could. This thing is really crazy though. Anyway...

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - Soulvirtue - 07-29-2011

I have the exact same problem.
Hey again Tan. Intel doesn't really like us too much.

Literally, nothing is different lol

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - plutomaniac - 07-29-2011

What graphics card do you have?

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - TheLolMenPeople - 10-25-2011

I have the same problemo too.

I read through this and haven't tried downgrading my Intel driver yet.

But I will try that. I have a windows 7.

I will post the results later on.

RE: HPL2 Editor Black Screen - Southlaguna - 01-18-2012

I just got the HPL2 editor to test it out for myself and i got the same issue

Im running it on a new laptop with windows 7 and an Nvidia GeForce GT 520M Graphics card.

I tried running it as an administrator aswell as most of the solutions above that were relatable to me but still nothing. Any ideas?
