I have the following problem when trying to play, it goes to the menu and then quits with the message that it couldn't load a sound file. The sound file is present, so i think that may be a red herring?

Couldn't load sound "amb_fan1.wav"Does anyone have any ideas? Using xp service pack 3 and radeon x1950 pro. If i remember, there were problems with the penumbra tech demo on ati cards, could this be similar?

This game is unfinished, alpha and buggy. So I don't think you can get support for it. Try updating your graphics card drivers as well as the sound ones. For the graphics make sure you have this installed:

Yer, already got the latest drivers since they don't update them for my card anymore.
Might try with my old 9600 pro to see if that magically makes any difference.

Also, try Windows 2000 compatibility mode and see if that works. If it doesn't work, I'm making a full conversion mod about Unbirth which is not going to be released soon but at least it is something. You can find the link at my signature below.
