RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - Thomas - 09-21-2010 kenoxite: If it did not appear then you probably did not start and exit after replacing (as mansarde suggested). The fix only adds this option, so if you cannot change it, the fix does nothing. As for the crash, please commit the hpl.log (in My Documents/Amnesia/main/) after that happens. RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - kaoswaters - 09-21-2010 Downloaded the demo yesterday and found this thread, after the game totally freezing at the start. Swapped one file for the other....Now works brilliantly, Radeon X1650 Card RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - veracious - 09-21-2010 I have this same flickering light problem and your suggestion unfortunately did not fix the problem for me. Also, you probably meant "My Documents\Amnesia\MainDemo" path instead of what you wrote in the post. If you have some other suggestions, please let me know and I'll try them out as well. I changed the occlusion setting to false. Started a new game. The flicker is still there. No crash this time, though. Anyway, it seems to happen randomly, but in some specific places (you can see my initial report here, where I explain all this in detail). RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - Thomas - 09-21-2010 It might turn out that you will need X-1000+ card to run the game I have no idea at this point what the light flickering might be. Will need to think about it, or try and get the X-850 card I have working (it bleeps when I put into comp) RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - veracious - 09-21-2010 I have a Radeon X800XT 256MB with 10.2 drivers in Windows XP. Nah, it's OK. Thanks for trying, Thomas. RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - AmesGames - 09-21-2010 Hey Thomas, I have an X850 XT and this is what happens when I try to run this game: First time I ran it, the menu came up just fine but when I started a new game, the very first frame of the game rendered and the voice over began. The voice over ran fine, no hiccups in the audio, but the video was screwed. The game would only render basically 1 frame a second (this was on medium settings). Making it entirely unplayable obviously. Second time I ran the game, I turned all video options to their lowest possible settings, and turned off every special effect. Then I started a new game, the game proceeded to render properly, and the introduction sequence finished correctly. I could move the mouse around and look at the blood splatters on the floor and the walls of room, etc. It all ran smoothly as expected on minimal settings. However, as soon as I pushed the "J" key to see my journal, the game completely locked up! It didn't even display the journal at all. Just locked up solid... Here are my rig specs: Windows XP Pro SP2 Direct X 9C (latest version June 2010) Pentium 4 Prescott 3Ghz 2 Gigs of RAM Soundblaster Audigy Soundcard I also have the newest version of the ATI X850 XT drivers installed, and the newest Open AL. For the rec all the Penumbra games ran just fine, I guess that is irrelevant if Amnesia uses a new engine. All I can figure is you're using some shaders that don't jive with the ATI X series framework...? Anyway, long live Frictional. RE: Users of ATI X-series! Look here for DEMO fix - PlayaX - 09-22-2010 Hey um, i had the X-series problem, demo patch worked just fine. Was wondering if the new patch had come out and i missed it? if the demo patch was meant to work with the full-game now?(probably not) Just a bit curious because i can't wait to play. Loved the penumbra games and all my friends said it was 10x better. |
