The green colour looks a bit unnatural - maybe make it less green and add a bit more blue? Also, adding more blue could create an orange/blue contrast though a very weak, faint one which is always good. Yea I know it's a bit unnatural... It's because of the mushrooms glowing and growing deep underground. But i could try making them more blue. Yes, it's a dirtplane... That makes most sense... I will mostly go with the glowing mushrooms, and empty torchholders which results in a mono-türkis color, but i could throw in some torches... How about the plants? Are they ok? I'll continue RE: Screenshot criticism thread - DeAngelo - 03-16-2013 Library is pretty much done. I still gotta script the puzzles and maybe stick in an oil pot or 2. Anyway, here's a church I'm working on. Spoiler below!
Edit: I got post #666 earlier in this thread and now I got post #777. I swear if I get #888 I'm gonna be scared. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 03-16-2013 @DeAngelo Increase the floor tile, add carpets, add dirt floor decals, perhaps try knocking a few chairs over... Make the boxlight darker (so the ceiling area isn't as well lit as the ground where all the lights are shining), use a plentiful amount of dark pointlights to help blend it a little... Consider using planks of wood to cover some of the windows and using the different styles of curtains to add variety... Perhaps add other sources of lighting e.g. torches, candlesticks... fix the tiling on the ceiling (the texture seems very small), add some support structures like wooden beams and also, one thing very few people seem to do, ADD PILLARS/WELDERS BETWEEN EACH CASTLEBASEWALL. There is a seam in the texture - it doesn't add up quite right if you look closely. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 03-17-2013 Quote:Funfact: First time I loaded the level I had forgot to set all those wood beams as Static so they all came falling down and scared the shit out of me. Literally lol'd. -I indeed was going on the assumption you pointed out. -You're also correct about the pointlights. Assuming you have a colored boxlight (which you clearly do), any greyish colored point lights (where all values are the same) will just make it a bit brighter in whatever area you place them and retain the color. They should be sized according to how faint you make them (i.e. bright lights should be small, dark ones should be big, etc) RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CarnivorousJelly - 03-17-2013 Spoiler below!
Billboards Spoiler below!
Spoiler below!
BeeKayK, your overgrown area looks delightful! Maybe try turning the grass decal green (or whatever colour the plants are) and spamming it along the walls/planes if you haven't already. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - DeAngelo - 03-17-2013 (03-17-2013, 02:17 AM)Kiandra Wrote:(03-15-2013, 11:58 PM)DeAngelo Wrote: Oh, I thought the "connect light" thing was to make it so that if I turn on a lamp I can have a light connected to that lamp since you can't adjust a lamp's light directly. Thanks for telling me this, because it becomes a freaking pain to adjust 20 billboards each time I want to make changes. Neato Burrito. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CarnivorousJelly - 03-17-2013 Make sure you're duplicating the billboards so that you don't have to connect each one individually to the light source. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - PutraenusAlivius - 03-17-2013 In the original Amnesia, the billboards look realistic. In my CS, it looked fake. How to make the billboards to look realistic? |
