RE: Time? - Ghieri - 09-26-2012 Well, first: There is no such thing as the Present. If you are even a casual follower of Einstein, you know that everything is relative to everything else. With all of the complex motions of the universe, and our day-to-day lives, not a single person lives on exactly the same timelines. A moving train ages slower than a person walking. Throw in a black hole, and watch everything get fucked up. Then you get into quantum theory which deals with a whole other slurry of problems, like the double slit experiment. The biggest problem is when you try to combine the two, Relativity works on Big objects, quantum theory works on particles, and we have nothing as of yet that combines both, even though they are both true. GG Time moves differently in space than on Earth (differently being slightly slower, according to those hip scientists). Time doesn't really exist in a black hole; if you get near it, it slows down, but on the event horizon it stops. Also: Goddamn this thread is moving fast. More people replying than we can keep up with D: Future! Time dilation. If you're inside a black hole's gravity field, time appears normal, but everyone outside it is "sped" up. It's the opposite in the other side, except "slown" down.
