But a big win was the "Falscher Hase" I made a few weeks back (translatable as "Fake Rabbit". It is a roast made of minced meat and filled with pickles, carrots, boiled eggs and capers. Used to be a DDR/soviet union poor mans dish, but so yummy if you make it just right. Ideally it looks something like this once it gets out of the oven http://www.lecker.de/media/redaktionell/leckerde/rezeptsammlungen/hackbraten/hbv_1745/falscher-hase.jpg Mashed potatoes and sauce go well with it, but also sauerkraut or red cabbage. And a good beer, preferably from Austria or southern Germany.
