While Thomas may be learned about SCP in May this year (according to blog), I find it hard to believe no one from the team never heard about it as well or never brought it to attention during development. The idea about a secret society examining paranormal objects isn't exactly original. :p RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Zgroktar - 10-01-2013 (10-01-2013, 07:19 PM)TiberiusBond Wrote:(10-01-2013, 07:00 PM)Zgroktar Wrote: You could as well call Penumbra SCP inspired/ rip-off or something like that, because it contains within its story a powerful organization(Archaic) trying to contain a foreign entity(Tuurngait), but that is silly of course because Penumbra came out even before the SCP foundation has been created. The thing is, the SCP is really popular today, and it will be inevitably compared to anything similar, beside the fact it really didn't introduce anything that has not been done before. Because I interpreted it as: "When we started working on the game it wasn't supposed to be a horror game but later on it sort of turned into one". Not that the actual game itself starts out as a non-horror game and becomes one. RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Wooderson - 10-01-2013 I have definitely seen this actress before. I am trying my best to dig in the back of my head to find out what she was in though. Not sure what's true now. And my 10th question is: Music by Mikko Tarmia? RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Traggey - 10-01-2013 10: We don't know RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Sampyli - 10-01-2013 FG has been working on this since Amnesia, and Thomas only found out about the SCP database this year (like someone already said), so it's a bit funny how some people are already calling it an SCP rip-off. Why? Because there's a sliding door and she said "CONTAIN IT!" at the end? Anyway, I'm thinking every time the progress bar goes to 100%, we get another teaser. 6 days until the next one in that case! Also, I think Thomas meant they started making a sci-fi game, but the project just naturally turned into a horror game. (Not that the game starts out as a sci-fi adventure game and turns into horror.) Hmm.Probably because the game is not really an SCP clone at all. My guess: Thomas found out about SCP in May and liked the idea so much that he decided to incorporate aspects of it into the game and/or use it in teasers.
